Who We Are
The Friends of the Rose Garden Home Mission
The Friends of the Rose Garden Mission are dedicated to upholding the dignity of every human person from conception until natural death for all people. Our mission is to financially assist the Franciscan Daughters of Mary in their work of providing assistance, hope and dignity to the less fortunate of Covington and the greater Cincinnati area by purchasing and maintaining the properties that the sisters utilize.
In the Sister’s Rule of life, they are permitted to own nothing so to be totally free to rely completely on God’s providence to provide for all of their needs. And so, several years ago, with the prospect of moving the Mission to its present location, the “Friends” took it as their mission to purchase the property so that the Sisters would have a more permanent place to continue helping moms, babies and needy neighbors with food, medical and dental services for years to come.
In 2022, the Friends bought and remodeled a building, turning it in to a new convent, a Novitiate House, so the Sisters have a place to form new candidates for their community.
Last year, the Friends of the Rose Garden started a new project; and expansion of the current Rose Garden building! We broke ground for the addition last spring and if all goes well it should be finished sometime this summer.
The Rose Garden Home Mission
The Rose Garden Home Mission is run by the Franciscan Daughters of Mary and Daughter’s Helpers, an all-volunteer staff who assist them in helping our needy friends and neighbors. Primary to all we do at the Rose Garden Home Mission is to uphold the dignity of every human person from the moment of conception until natural death. We do this by giving to each person the same love we receive from Jesus Christ. All of our services are free of cost to the one in need.The ministries of the Rose Garden Mission are: a full Pregnancy Care Center, helping Moms make good choices in their pregnancies and assisting them with material needs for them and their babies; a no-questions-asked Food Pantry where families may receive food every day we're open; a free primary care clinic called the Rose Garden Center for Hope & Healing; and a free Dental Clinic.
The Franciscan Daughters of Mary
The charism of the Franciscan Daughters of Mary is to love & serve Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Author of Life, with joyful simplicity, upholding the dignity of every human being from the moment of conception until natural death in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. Like all consecrated religious, the Sisters take the three vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. In addition, the Sisters take a fourth vow to uphold the dignity of every human person from the moment of conception to natural death. The sisters live out this vow by giving the Love of Jesus to everyone they meet, praying for priests, and through the works of mercy carried out at the Rose Garden Home Mission. In imitation of St. Francis, whose rule they follow, the Sisters choose to give up all possessions- they rely entirely on the Providence of God and are not permitted to own anything. This is why the Friends of the Rose Garden are so important- without them, the sisters would have no facilities for their apostolic works.
